The tracing application is a valuable tool for honing handwriting skills, commencing with individual letters accompanied by dynamic instructional guidance. It progresses through simple words, cursive letters, and culminates in the joined-up writing of basic phrases. The app supports a variety of writing styles including print, manuscript, and cursive—both upper and lower case letters.

This resource is particularly relevant for students in grades K-6, as well as for ESL and ELL learners. For the younger audience, the Kids ABC Trains Lite version is recommended.

For young students in grades K-1 and ESL/ELL learners, the app offers:
<ul>
 <li>Tracing of both lower and upper case print as well as "precursive" (D'Nealian manuscript) letters paired with dynamic writing instructions.</li>
 <li>Illustrations accompanying the tracing tasks.</li>
 <li>The ability to trace simple words.</li>
 <li>Tracing of numbers ranging from 0-30.</li>
 <li>Levels, points, and scoring systems to track progress.</li>
</ul>

For older students in grades 2-5, the focus shifts towards cursive letters and the joined-up writing of words.

Special features for ESL/ELL students include:
<ul>
 <li>Interactive illustrations that, when pressed, read the corresponding word in American English.</li>
 <li>A feature to hear the name of a letter upon pressing it in the upper right corner.</li>
 <li>A similar function for hearing words pronounced by pressing them in the upper right corner.</li>
 <li>Support for print font usage.</li>
